A quintessential starter to any Asian fare, this egg drop soup is brimming with warm, blissful goodness.
- 1 package Simply Organic Vegetarian Brown Gravy Seasoning Mix 1.0 oz.
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup finely diced mushrooms and carrots
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1 lightly beaten large egg
In a medium saucepan, whisk together water and Simply Organic Vegetarian Brown Gravy Mix. Add vegetables and chili flakes and bring to a boil. Turn off heat. Slowly pour beaten egg into pan from 6 to 7 inches above the pan and at the same time swirl fork through broth. This will create the characteristic egg formation of egg drop soup.
Leave out vegetables for a simple egg drop soup or substitute your favorite vegetable in place of mushrooms or carrots.
Add cayenne pepper to increase the heat for a hot and spicy version.
Add 2 teaspoons lemon juice for hot and sour soup.
